I don’t know why, but my ‘BS-ometer’ is twitching.

Before the Eurovision Song Contest, in May 2019, 700 rockets rained down on Israel within two days.

That’s a lot of rockets.

And a lot of people were hurt and I think that three people were killed in Ashdod. (I can’t find the news report on that, so feel free to correct me on this.)

But I don’t remember back then seeing statements like this (all taken from the fake news YWN site ‘live blogging’ of the ‘war’):

====

6:20PM: Minister of Public Security Gilad Erdan speaks to the nation via KAN11 TV News, explains that Israel Police is in charge at present, with all other organizations and security forces operating under its umbrella due to the “special regulations” which remain in place. This is the result of the ongoing rocket fire from Gaza into Israel.

The senior cabinet minister urges all citizens to adhere to the instructions and directives of the IDF Homefront Command.

He adds the nation’s security forces stand ready for “any situation”, including “a scenario of an attempted terrorist infiltration from the sea”. The Israel Police has increased its manpower in light of the security emergency, which has led to the implementation of limited emergency regulations.

6:05PM: US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman

6:04PM: Globes financial news explains the State of Israel has NIS 1.3 billion in reserves, pointing out it is enough for either a military operation in Gaza or another round of Knesset elections – but not both, asking “what to do?”

5:45PM: IDF Homefront Command Colonel Gil Shanav, speaking on KAN11 TV News suggests persons in areas not usually targeted with rocket fire to review regulations with family members – to discuss what everyone does if sirens are heard in the middle of the night.

====

This is just the last snippets, but I read this and I got the strange feeling that all is not how it seems.

I’ve been in Israel since 2005, and part of that time was spent in the South of the country, when rockets were raining down all over the place – and I didn’t see any ‘instructions’ like this being published then. I didn’t say any official announcements that Israel Police ‘are in charge of everything’ and that Israel has defacto just become a Police State.

In the meantime, 200 rockets aren’t nothing, it’s true, but what’s going on now still pales in comparison to the 700 rockets that fell in less than 2 days before the Eurovision – and there were no instructions like this, going out then.

Why would the State of Israel, and whoever is pulling the strings behind the scenes, be interested in setting us up for a ‘war’ right now?

Let’s go back to fake news YWN, for some clues:

====

CLUE #1:

Deep State America has been trying to get a war started with the Iranians for months and months, so they can get the green light to totally destroy Iran and take over their oil fields as well. But somehow or other, their plans to ignite World War III keep getting thwarted.

But they aren’t giving up! Let’s see if we can pick up the hint in US ambassador’s David Friedman’s tweet:

“Palestinian Islamic Jihad, an Islamist terrorist org backed by Iran, is again attacking Israel with 100’s of missiles aimed at civilians.”

My BS-ometer pinged off when I read this, because Hamas is also an Islamist terrorist organisation backed by Iran – but they aren’t rocketing Israel.

So, why is the PIJ suddenly in the spotlight again?

It kind of reminded me of what was happening with Oslo, when the PIJ were the main ones killing Israelis, with the guns they’d been given by Rabin and Peres.

====

CLUE #2:

The anti-Torah forces in Israel had a big plan to create a ‘unity government’ that would accept the Trump-Kushner ‘peace plan’, while simultaneously declaring ‘war’ against the Torah world.

Two times, that plan got miraculously stymied.

But, the people who are pulling the strings in Israel behind the scenes – from Europe and America – aren’t about to let a pesky thing like ‘democracy’ spoil things, no sirree!

Once you have a war going on, then a ‘unity government’ is a no-brainer, isn’t it?!?

And in case you didn’t get that message loud and clearly enough, here comes Globes – an ‘old Labour‘ mouthpiece – to reinforce the message:

6:04PM: Globes financial news explains the State of Israel has NIS 1.3 billion in reserves, pointing out it is enough for either a military operation in Gaza or another round of Knesset elections – but not both, asking “what to do?”

====

CLUE #3:

Honestly? This clue is by far the most worrying.

Do you understand they just formally announced that the State of Israel has been taken over by the police, ‘due to the war?’

I have no idea why the POLICE should be taking over. Surely, if anyone, it should be the ARMY that’s taking over….

If things are really so bad in Israel, right now, security-wise.

====

Just two weeks ago, Jared Kushner was calling for Israel to form a ‘unity government’.

He’s got a ‘peace plan’ to promote here! And Israeli democracy is slowing it up! On that front, I recently read this from newsweek.com, and again, I had a strong feeling of deja vu:

 [I]t’s terrific to talk about what could happen if there was peace. But the ideas Kushner presented have been raised in a variety of formats and configurations over the course of the past 50 years. Twenty years ago, the concept of “a new Middle East” was the dream promoted by the late Israeli President Shimon Peres, in attempts to induce Israelis to agree to concessions for the sake of peace. In short, Peres promised that Israel would thrive in a Middle East at peace. He was no doubt correct. Be that as it may, be, Israel managed to thrive without achieving peace.

But even despite this ‘push’ from the States, that anti-Torah ‘unity government’ that everyone wants, except for the voters, just hasn’t happened.

So now, we have a war with Gaza again.

Apparently.

And already, the papers are full of people urging a unity government at this critical time.

But the facts on the ground doesn’t seem to justify the enormous public ‘over-reaction’ that is being shared on fake news sites like YWN, amongst others.

And my BS-ometer is still twitching. All I can say, is that I hope the Rav is going to sweeten all this again, and put another spanner in the works.

UPDATE:

Yesterday afternoon, they posted this up on the ravberland.com website:

Yesterday night, they miraculously agreed a cease-fire, Baruch Hashem.

I know there’s a question about Gog and Magog preceding Moshiach, and does that mean Moshiach is only coming in 200 years, too. The Rav has said previously the good things will start to happen now, presumably that includes Moshiach coming.

If I can pull any more insights together on this subject, I’ll write something about it, but I’m really as much in the dark as everyone else here. The key is emunat tzaddikim, to just develop some simple, humble faith in our true tzaddikim, and to stop pretending we know it all – or even, anything much!

But Baruch Hashem, enough people agreed to fast and to learn, to sweeten this latest attempt to start a disastrous war in the Middle East. Long may it continue…

Rabbi Berland said they would attack us on Tuesday. He was right.

For the last couple of weeks, Rabbi Berland has made some very clear and specific statements that there was another ‘decree of shmad’, or decree of destruction, hanging over the Jewish people.

Last week, he publically said:

“Now, we are declaring a fast, because the situation is awful. The situation is already lost, because America has already abandoned the Middle East. They abandoned Syria. On Tuesday next week [i.e. November 13, 2019], they are already going to launch a nuke.

Because every day, they are launching rockets at Sderot and Ashkelon. Everything will already be hefker (ownerless).

Rockets already fell on Ashdod, but no rocket fell in the chareidi areas. But, we will already be completely hefker….

The son of Eitan Cohen was killed close to Bet El. So, we’ve organized fasts for Monday, Thursday and Monday.”

This has been up on the ravberland.com site for a few days already, you can see it for yourself HERE.

====

But that’s not all.

For literally months, the Rav has been saying that a war will break out in Cheshvan.

You can see a few examples of him saying that HERE, HERE and HERE.

There has been quite a debate going on amongst the English speakers who follow the ravberland.com site, because the Rav also said that the holocaust that was meant to happen every 70 years had been postponed for 200 years.

People got confusedif the holocaust has been postponed for 200 years, then does that still mean a war in Cheshvan?

The answer, today, is clearly yes  – but it’s all being sweetened.

Who knows how bad things still might get, a war is a war, after all, but Israel’s ‘wars’ are so very different from the wars that happen anywhere else in the world.

The rockets continually miss their targets.

The rockets continually fail to explode, even if they hit their targets.

The rockets continually fall into empty car parks, and building lots and parks and fields.

The rockets continually fail to cause any major or numerous injuries – although in the last round, there were still a handful of people killed in Ashdod, which shocked the whole country precisely because we’re so used to massive open miracles.

====

Two weeks ago, Channel 13 ran a fake news ‘expose’ against the Rav. Last week, a fake news complaint was filed against the Rav for ‘manslaughter’. The public disgrace and persecution is starting up again – right on time!

Exactly as the Rav predicted would need to happen, many, many months ago, in order to sweeten all the harsh decrees he could see coming down the pipe.

At this stage, who can’t see this?

At this stage, who can really still be so brazen and arrogant to deny that the Rav:

  • Clearly and obviously has ruach hakodesh.
  • Is working overtime to sweeten the judgments and the ‘holocaust’ that otherwise would occur, God forbid.
  • Is ONLY experiencing all this public opposition and slander because that’s what he’s agreed to undertake, in order to rescue the Jewish people from these harsh decrees?

====

Last week, Rabbi Berland also put out a separate message where he told the kehilla to take on learning 5 chapters of Rambam, and 8 pages of Gemara a day, to conclude by Succot of 5781.

The Rav said:

“We must study five chapters of Rambam, and eight pages of Gemara, because there is going to be a terrible holocaustand whoever holds by this holy learning schedule will be saved.

====

So, there are a few options for how you can help the Rav help the Jewish people to stave off disaster, God forbid:

  • Make a commitment to never say, read or believe a negative word about Rabbi Berland again. And especially not the fake news from the anti-Torah media and police in Israel.
  • Start doing some hafatzah to let more people know about the Rav’s writings, and his teachings. Because getting close to the Tzaddik HaDor is the only way to get through the next few months without going totally bonkers. There’s a bunch of books out in English now, there’s a bunch of prayers, you can send them to the ravberland.com site and let them see with their own eyes how what is going on now has all been specifically foreseen.
  • Join in the fast the Rav called for last week, Monday-Thursday-Monday. Even if you only fast a little bit, every intention for the good carries tremendous weight. Yesterday, I could only manage to fast to midday, but I still tried, and that’s what is important.
  • Join the learning schedule, to complete the Rambam and Shas by next Succot 5781.

In case you haven’t noticed, there is a war going on.

The rockets are just a reflection of the real war, the war against God and His Torah, that the State of Israel has been waging even before it was officially the State of Israel.

Months ago, Rabbi Berland also stated that Gantz and Lieberman would be happy to form a government with the ‘anti-Israel’ Arab Joint List, despite all their protests that they would never do that…

Guess what?

That appears to be what’s going on right now.

All these people care about is gaining power and keeping control, and trying to smash every last bit of Torah observance in the State of Israel.

Recently, they approved public transportation to operate on Shabbat in Tel Aviv.

Today, the schools and non-essential work have been shut down in Gush Dan, because the rockets are reaching Holon, and explosions are being heard in Tel Aviv. The trains are grinding to a halt – on a Tuesday.

Can you see how this is working?

BH, the Rav will sweeten all this, but he needs our help. He needs our prayers, he needs our support, he needs us to counter the fake news about him with all our might, hard as that is, because that brings us face-to-face with all the psychos out there, religious and otherwise, who can’t stand the Rav.

But that is the test.

And I hope more of us will start to pass it.

WATCH: Yair Lapid gave this speech in 2011, before he even entered politics.

Why am I bringing a 25 minute talk by Yair Lapid, from 2011?

Because it explains so, so much of what’s really going on in Israel right now, both politically, but also all the hatred you find expressed against the haredi community, and the settlers, and the right-wingers, and everyone else in Israel who isn’t them, in the [still almost entirely secular, still almost entirely Ashkenazi] Israeli media.

The clip has good English subtitles, that were done by an organisation called Makom that says it’s the:

“Israel Education Lab of the Jewish Agency for Israel”.

I find that statement somewhat troubling, as Makom is clearly run by a number of Jews who are affiliated with Reform, Conservative and the other non-Orthodox ‘pluralist’ organisations who are funding so many of the legal challenges to the Orthodox Chief Rabbinate in the High Courts, and who are behind so many of the legal attacks against the Torah way of life in Israel.

Maybe this is why so many orthodox Jewish converts are currently having such a hard time trying to get their plans for moving to Israel accepted by the Jewish Agency?

‘Pluralist’ organisations can’t get enough of Yair Lapid, and Yesh Atid. They parrot each other’s words an awful lot, and when you start to see the exact same sentiments being expressed by different people using exactly the same terminology – alarm bells start to go off that this isn’t just a grass-roots ‘uprising’, but something that is being carefully planned, and carefully orchestrated behind the scenes, from America.

There’s more to be said, as always. For now, I’ve transcribed the first half of Yair Lapid’s speech, which he gave to a group of Haredi adult students at Kiryat Ono College, in 2011. I’ll share more of his speech in the next post, where I hope to take a proper look at what’s really going on with the draft controversy. There is a lot of obfuscation of the real issues (as always…) but with a bit of careful digging, I think we’ll be able to get a clearer picture of what’s really going on in Israel, and what the implications are.

In the meantime, here’s the first half of Yair Lapid’s speech:

You won. There was a competition in Israel for ‘Israeli-ness’ that lasted over 100 years, since the 2nd wave of Jewish immigration. And in the end, you won. We lost and you won.

For decades here, it was a Mexican Shootout, where each one waits for the other guy to give in…

According to Avi Ravitsky:

The status quo was based on the false assumption which was accepted by both sides that the opposition camp was doomed to dwindle away and perhaps even disappear.

I know that’s what the haredim always thought about the chilonim (secularists), that they’re doomed to extinction.

But, that’s what we thought about you, too. That you’re a sort of living museum, like the safari park in Ramat Gan. There’s a place where they have this rare species that’s almost extinct, and that has to be protected, so we can take our grandchildren there and show them and tell them: “You see, kids? That’s how Jews used to look!”

Let me remind you that when Ben Gurion agreed to exempt yeshiva students from military service, the original number was 700. That was supposed to be the entire yeshiva population, 700. In the State of Israel today, in the Mir yeshiva alone, there are more than 3,500 men…

[100 years ago] Secular Jews came in two different types, the maskilim (‘enlightened”) and the Zionists…

The chilonim and the haredim were in constant conflict, until the reached the point of confrontation. And you won that confrontation. You won not only in terms of numbers, but also in relation to the haredi presence in politics, and the settlement movement, and as a consumer force, and in the street and the culture, and in the educational system. You won in all these places.

I’ve heard the stats, and looking at you here, I expect you to win in the job market, as well.

Because it turns out, there is no way to build ‘Israeli-ness’ without you.

The Founding Fathers had a vision of Israel as a socialist, secular European State. That was the main vision, and it held out for 50 years. But different ‘tribes’ gradually fanned around this [socialist, secular, Europeanized] mainstream:

The Haredi-Ashkenazi Tribe; the Haredi-Sephardi Tribe; the National-Religious; Beitar; then in the 50s, ‘tribes’ came here from North Africa, that became the tribes on the periphery; then in the early 90s, the Russian ‘tribe’ came here; and then the Ethiopian ‘tribe’.

And each tribe had its needs and demanded something from the mainstream. Religious demands, political demands, economic demands, and so they ate away at the mainstream. And these tribes gradually infiltrated all the traditional, [socialist, secular, Europeanized] axes of power. First, the Israeli Defense Force (IDF). Then academia. Then business.

And when the [socialist, secular, Europeanized] mainstream of Israeli-ness tried to defend itself…these others said: “Look, you oppressed us! You denied us our rights and we won’t accept this. And they were right, that the [socialist, secular, Europeanized] mainstream really did oppress them, and denied them their rights. And they really shouldn’t have had to tolerate that.

And something else also happened:

The [socialist, secular, Europeanized] mainstream was no longer the majority. By the late 1970s, there were more Sephardim in Israel than Ashkenazim. And since the 1980s, there are a lot more people who consider themselves traditional or religious, than secular.

Jerusalem is a much bigger city than Tel Aviv. And since 1977, the capitalist right-wing [i.e. the Likud party] has been in power most of the time, for 34 out of the last 40 years.

A survey from 1994 showed that 56% of the [Israeli] public believes that the Torah was given at Mount Sinai. It’s clear that the balance between the ‘tribes’ and the [secular, socialist, Europeanized] mainstream has been upset. The [secular, socialist, Europeanized] mainstream is no longer the majority, not numerically, not economically, not politically and not idealogically.

In the late 1990s, something predictable happened.

The [secular, socialist, Europeanized] mainstream got fed up. The [secular, socialist, Europeanized] mainstream looked to the left, and looked to the right, and said: “I’m sick of everyone demanding things from me. If they don’t want me to leave the country, then let them lead it themselves, because I have a new solution. From now on, I’m a ‘tribe’ too – the “middle-class” tribe.”

It said: “I don’t need the government in order to do business. I can get married in Cyprus in a civil ceremony, and I have to defend democracy, because these other tribes [i.e. the haredim, right-wingers, Sephardim, Russians and Ethiopians who make up the majority of the population] are instinctively either non-democratic, or less democratic.

“And I’m sick of the fact that a boy in Bnei Brak, and a boy in Um El-Fahm whom I’ve never met are funded by my taxes. And I certainly don’t need to be told that I ‘oppressed’ them.

“If they’re so ‘oppressed’, let them get along without me. I’ll do what everyone else does. I’ll look out for Number 1. I’ll take care of myself, and my people.” And that’s how it’s been over recent years.

[up to 8.40 mins, then skipping a little. Yair Lapid continues:]

When the Zionist Founding Fathers came to Israel, they said they wanted to build a ‘melting pot’ for the Jews.

And they sincerely looked for a broad ‘base’ of agreement between the different sections. They ignored the fact that the Jewish people already had such a base…They wanted to build a secular, socialist ‘melting pot’, and they ignored the fact that the Jews had an ancient Father who maintained and protected them for 2,000 years, i.e. the God of Israel.

I want to emphasize that I’m not talking about emuna, faith, that’s something else. I’m talking about the question of what is the social and cultural foundation of the Israeli ethos.

The Founding Fathers tried to skip straight from the Bible to modern times.

They wanted a Biblical ethos, not a Talmudic [i.e. Rabbinic] one, because the Bible happened here. King Saul went to find his donkeys on Highway 443…

For them, the Talmudic tradition belonged to the exile. So, they decided to skip over the Mishnah and Midrash, the Talmud, the Golden Age of Spain, the Ramchal, the Chatam Sofer, Rebbe Nachman of Breslov, to establish their ‘Biblical’ ethos. And instead of a multi-dimensional and multi-sectoral vision that could include all different types of Jew, they created an ethos that suited secular, Ashkenazi socialists. And they wanted all the other ‘tribes’ to submit to this ethos.

This wasn’t done out of malice or stupidity, it was just secular thinking. They thought like this: “If God hasn’t brought the Jews to Israel in 2000 years, it’s time to let someone else have a go. It’s time to create a new myth.”

And when the holocaust came, they saw it as proof that you can’t rely on the God of the Jews, because He’s unreliable. We can only rely on ourselves.

So we tried to rely on ourselves, but the experiment failed.

It failed because it caused everyone who wasn’t secular, Ashkenazi and socialist to withdraw even more into his tribe. Especially when he realized that the ‘vision’ being offered to him had no room for what was most precious to him – his God.

It failed even more, because the Founding Fathers explanation was unsatisfactory. It didn’t justify us being here [in Israel]. Because if you take our ‘Father’ [i.e. God] out of the picture, what are we doing here? Why would a secular person choose to live in the worst neighborhood in the world, amongst a billion Muslims who hate him, in this this heat, if he doesn’t believe in an external Power that makes it worth living here?

====

Yair Lapid didn’t have an answer for this question, btw, which sums up a lot of the problem that his ‘tribe’ are now facing, and why so many of them are turning into raging ultra-lefty, anti-Israel lunatics. But in the second half of Yair Lapid’s speech, he touched on a few issues that the religious Jews in Israel do have to grapple with, however uncomfortable that may makes us feel. And we’ll look at what these issues are in the next post.
